The author, Chuck Coonradt, has been cited as the father of gamification. Gamification is the idea of taking elements of a game (i.e. point scoring, competition, rules of play, etc.) and using them to encourage and drive specific behaviors from individuals and organizations. These ideas have been widely applied for years within sales organizations, and we’re starting to see a proliferation of gamification into many more industries and aspects of our lives.
Why we like it
We believe when organizations and individuals can align on the “rules of the game”, it helps to clarify expectations of how everyone should act, and what is most important. Once everyone is on the same page regarding these two facts, then it gives individuals the autonomy to act in ways that they know is in the best interest of the organization.
