New Name, Same Mission
Greensboro, NC – December 5, 2016 – Catalant, a premiere performance management software solution, emerges with a new brand identity while continuing to help manufacturing companies increase productivity and drive operational excellence to new heights. The company’s new name, Ampogee, new logo and new website all work together to emphasize its mission, “We Make Work Matter.”
Most noticeably, the name Ampogee is a portmanteau of amp and apogee. Amp is an abbreviation of “amplify,” as well as an acronym for Drive author Dan Pink’s three core elements of motivation – Autonomy, Mastery and Purpose (AMP) – while an apogee is the maximum point of altitude in a rocket’s flight path. All combined, Ampogee signifies how the Software as a Service (SaaS) helps increase the pinnacle of an organization’s performance by engaging team members and leaders in their work through promoting autonomy, supporting mastery and connecting to purpose.
The logo changes from its previous spherical shape to an “A” crossed by a line of trajectory leading to its highest point – the apogee. The new website (ampogee.com) delivers an informative and interactive experience, featuring rave reviews from clients and a blog that helps the reader learn more about the company’s values and motivation.
Co-founders Brian Lopatka and Jonathan Woahn worked with a network of small businesses and independent contractors to make it easier for discrete manufacturing companies to identify with the brand and understand the value this performance management platform would bring to their organizations.
Commenting on the rebrand, Woahn said, “This initiative was a priority for us to ensure our mission is at the forefront and is easily recognizable in our brand. While the results tell a powerful story, having a strong brand aligned with our mission will enable us to translate it into a movement.”
Lopatka and Woahn were driven to create the software after analyzing their experiences working with manufacturing organizations and their teams. They both noticed greater results when the teams felt a sense of purpose and connection to their work and when leaders were able to accurately convey expectations, helping team members understand what success looked like.
